After each group (Schroeder 1a, Schroeder 2a, Lucy 1, and Linus 1) discovered what they believe to be the original for each text type, then comes the committee.
There were two groups total, with each group attempting to reach their own conclusion.
Surprise! Both groups have the exact text! This is the first time Dr. Wallace has worked with an assistant, and the results were quite incredible. Two different groups working separately come to the same conclusion.
With all the extant MSS remaining, we begin to evaluate the variants. Our group is attempting to discover the original text of Schroeder 1a.
After the majority of us read our manuscripts out loud, one secretary collated all 4 applicable texts, then our four critical experts assisted the secretary in deciding the likelihood of the various reading. With this effort, we hope to find the original Schroeder 1a.
Last night 22 scribes got together to work on copying the autograph “The Gospel According to Snoopy.”
Only 3 of those 22 were able to see the actual original document. From there, people were on their own copying the various MSS. Each scribe or copyist had a specific set of instructions for their specific preference of transmission. For example the instructions to the first Lucy were as follows.
“Instructions: copy the original by sight. Make theological changes, by softening the offensive chauvinistic language. Do NOT change the text drastically , but subtly, so that its basic message is not altered, but its chauvinism is toned down.”
The sequence of transmission is something like this.
Today’s job is for the textual critics. They must use this chart to attempt to discover the original text of The Gospel of Snoopy.

Here are some beginning pictures from the lectures. I have volunteered to be a “Scribe” as we seek to produce various MSS of the Gospel of Snoopy and the rest of the people attempt to be the textual critics.
